SPICMACAY (Society for promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture amongst Youth) conducted a programme on Indian Classical Music in the school today.
Pt. Rajan Mishra and Pt. Sajan Mishra popularly known as Rajan-Sajan Mishra-the renowned singers of ‘Khayal’ style of Indian Classical music, created magical moments in the school. The brother duo is a part of 300 year old lineage of “Khayal’ singing of ‘Banaras Gharana’. They have been honoured with Gandharwa National Award, Sangeet Natak Academy Award,The Padma Bhushna and the prestigious Tansen Samman. With their outstanding performance, they mesmerized the audience under the spell of their art.
The students of classes IX, X and the music students of the school attended the programme. Also present on the occasion were the LMC members, Sh. Atul Talwar (Chief Co-ordinator of SPICMACAY,Ldh Chapter), Mrs. Manjit Sodia, Mrs. Neelam Kapoor, Mr. Ranjod Singh-all from SPICMACAY Ldh Chapter. Some guests from Sh.Bhaini Sahib also attended this programme. The singers had an energy which made the students admire them. Their towering personalities, with great ability to inspire, caused one and all fall in love with Indian Classical Music. The different ‘ragas’ used by them won great applause by the audience. The singers also had an interactive session with the students, wherein the students put forth their queries which were lovingly answered by them.
The Principal of the school, Mrs. J.K.Sidhu thanked the singers for their spectacular performance and for sparing their valuable time to be amongst them.
