World Menstrual Hygiene Day is observed on May 28 every year across the world. The day highlights the importance of menstrual care and raises awareness about the social issues faced by women during menstruation.
School organised a lecture on Menstrual hygiene for the girl students of classes VI-IX. Dr. Garima Sharma, Professor at DMC&H was the speaker of the day. She enlightened the students about the importance of menstrual hygiene which is vital for the well-being of women and girls worldwide. It is about more than just access to sanitary pads and appropriate toilets. She further added that it is also about ensuring women and girls live in an environment that values and supports their ability to manage their menstruation with dignity.
In the interactive session Dr. Garima answered every query of the students to their satisfaction. Stressing the fact that menstruation is a natural process, she encouraged the girls to take it in their stride confidently. She also gave tips to tackle minor ailments associated with it.
Principal Mrs. J.K. Sidhu thanked Dr. Garima for dispelling the myths related with menstruation and assured that the tips given by her would be followed by all the girl students. She also urged them to maintain menstrual hygiene to avoid infections. She further added that good menstrual hygiene plays an important role in enabling girls to reach their full potential. Last but not the least she also highlighted that good personal hygiene in all respects is one of the best ways in keeping oneself healthy.
