Learning is an ongoing process both for the teachers and the students. To strengthen the edifice of the temple of learning, DAV Center For Academic Excellence has initiated Capacity Building Programmes for teachers to ensure professional excellence. An effective programme of teachers training as devised by DAV CMC, keep abreast with not just the latest innovation in pedagogy but also analyse student performance and work upon better diagnostic strategies to enhance performance of students.
With this ethos a Three Days 'Capacity Building Programme'' was organized in school in the subjects of Physics, Mathematics, Biology, Science and History from Primary to Senior Secondary level. 98 teachers from 10 DAV Schools from Ludhiana Zone attended the workshop.
All the resource persons discussed in detail important areas like latest exam patterns, framing of question papers , common errors done by the students and analysis of board question papers. Apart from this they also shared the importance of incorporating experiential learning and imparting practical knowledge to the students and the need for having specific, realistic and measurable learning outcomes. They also shared new engaging techniques of teaching and stressed on the need for giving detailed knowledge of the subject to the students for their better performance. The resource persons stressed on the need to integrate arts into teaching of subjects like Mathematics and science which would not only help in improving the quality of leaning but also boost creativity and self -confidence amongst children and also help them absorb complex concepts in a simple way.
The Principal cum Assistant Regional Officer (PB Zone -F)J.K.Sidhu thanked the resource persons and the delegates and hoped that the enriching inputs and experiences gained in the workshop would be shared with their students leading to their academic excellence and success. Stress on learning by doing and doing away with rote learning were the take away for the delegates, who got a chance to share their practices and thus evolve as better teachers.
