Spic-Macay (Society for promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture amongst youth) conducted a Kathak Dance Performance in the school on 07-10-2014. The internationally acclaimed artist and the disciple of Pt. Kundan Lal Gangani, Pt. Rajendra Gangani created magical moments in the school. Keeping our Induan tradition in mind, the programme started with the lighting ceremony followed by ‘Saraswati Vandana’ invoking the blessing of Goddess Sarawati. Then came the much awaited moment when Pandit Ji gave a thrilling performance on the stage. Pt. Rajendra Gangani, the contemporary torch bearer of ‘Jaipur Gharana’ is one of the most outstanding Kathak Dancer in the north Indian Classical genre. With his outstanding performance, he mesmerised the audience under the spell of his art . Near about 500 students of class VIII and also dance students watched the performance. His performance had an energy which made the students admire him and clap in standing ovation. A cheerful personality with great ability to inspire, caused the audience fall in love with Kathak. Pandit Ji also had an inter-active session with the students in which they put some questions related to Kathak and these queries were answered in a very gentle way. The principal of the school, Mrs.J.K.Sidhu thanked the dancer for his spectacular performance and for sparing his valuable time to be amongst them.
