Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati Mahatma Hans Raj

To raise a memorial to pay a befitting tribute to Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati, his followers and great Arya Samjists like Lala Hansraj, Pt. Guru Dutt Vidyarthi, Lala Lajpat Rai, Lala Sain Dass et al. formed the Dayanand Anglo Vedic Trust and Management Society, which was registered in 1885. This was the beginning of the great DAV Movement and this society established its first institution DAV School at Lahore on 1st June, 1886 with Lala Hans Raj as its honorary Headmaster. The education in DAV Institutions helps the students to imbibe in them a deep sense of patriotism and pride in the vedic culture and traditions. It instills in them a disciplined outlook, with deep dedication to the pursuit of knowledge. These institutions aim at creating an environment conductive to the overall development of the child.
The DAV institutions have ushered in a new era with regenerated vision of social reformation and strongly emphasise the fact that "Education is the panacea of all evils".
The DAV College Trust and Management Society is now more than 139 years old and is the largest non-government organization in the field of education in India. The society is running more than 900 educational institutions in India and abroad, which include Public Schools, Aided Schools, Schools run by various corporate houses, Schools of reputed Government establishments, Art and Science Degree Colleges, Colleges of Education, Commerce and Law, Technical Institutions and Polytechnics, Ayurvedic College, Dental College, DAV Pharmacy, Vedic Research Institutions and a University to take the light of education to far flung areas of the country to make a skilled, educated and enlightened society that can help in eradicating the evils prevalent in the society and aid in the growth of the country.
