Two-Days Capacity Building Programme on “Strengthening Assessment and Evaluation Practices”

A two-day Capacity Building Programme (CBP) on “Strengthening Assessment and Evaluation Practices” for Prospective Resource Persons began at DAV Public School BRS Nagar today.
Around 60 teachers of various CBSE affiliated schools became part of this interactive workshop held under the aegis of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE CoE, Chandigarh).
The erudite CBSE Resource Persons, Ms. Neeru Arora, Principal, Gobindgarh Public School, Fatehgarh Sahib and Ms. Vandana Dhuria, Ex PGT Mathematics-Kundan Vidya Mandir, Civil Lines, Ludhiana helped the participating teachers to chalk out a road map for customizing the assessment pattern as per the curriculum.
Dr. (Mrs.) Vandana Shahi, Principal, BCM Senior Secondary School, Dugri and District Training Coordinator of Ludhiana graced the occasion with her benign presence and motivated the participants to make best use of the training opportunities provided by CBSE. She said that it is pertinent for the teachers to stay abreast with the latest changes in curriculum and transaction of the same in the interest of the pupils under their care.
The main objective of this workshop is to make the participants understand the integral elements of the latest structure of assessment and to optimize the learning and development of all the students through regular assessment and evaluation following the blueprint.
The day progressed with an ice-breaking session followed by a detailed discussion on the new structure of assessment. The participants interacted with the resource persons to get answers to their queries and be empowered.
The resource persons highlighted the importance of portfolios as a part of scholastic assessment, along with the need and contents of a good portfolio. They reminded the participants about the significance of providing round the year practice environment in classes for the holistic development and 360-degree assessment of learners through various games and class activities.
Principal Mrs. J.K. Sidhu welcomed the resource persons and attendees who came for training and also emphasized that these sessions are instrumental in keeping 21st century teachers abreast with the latest innovations in pedagogy. Such capacity building workshops must be organized from time to time to make the teachers competent enough to face the ever-evolving challenges of the classroom.
