School marked the auspicious beginning of formal education for its youngest learners with the Upnayan Ceremony (Initiation into Knowledge) for the newly admitted Nursery (Balvatika 1) students of the session 2025-26. The event beautifully integrated spirituality, tradition, and environmental consciousness, fostering an atmosphere of positivity and divine blessings.
The ceremony commenced with a *Hawan Yajna, a sacred Vedic ritual seeking divine blessings for the little ones embarking on their educational journey. Led by **Shastri Ji, the reverberation of Vedic chants filled the air, creating a serene and spiritually uplifting ambiance. **Principal Mrs. J.K. Sidhu, alongside parents and their children, participated in the ritual, offering prayers and seeking wisdom, purity, and success for the young learners. The divine energy of the sacred fire, coupled with the fragrance of incense and ‘hawan samagri,’ added to the sanctity of the moment. The distribution of **Prasad* further enriched the experience, instilling values of gratitude and devotion in the young minds.
To commemorate this special milestone, each child left handprints on a sheet—an artistic and heartfelt expression symbolizing their presence and new beginning. This touching gesture celebrated individuality while becoming a cherished addition to the school's legacy. Reinforcing the school’s commitment to *environmental stewardship, students, along with their parents, were presented with **saplings*, symbolizing the value of nurturing both knowledge and nature. This thoughtful act encouraged a sense of responsibility, emphasizing the importance of sustainability and environmental care from an early age.
A *Parent-Teacher Meeting (PTM)* was held as part of the ceremony, strengthening the bond between educators and parents. This interactive session provided insights into the teaching philosophy of the school and its holistic approach to early childhood education. In a heartwarming gesture, each child received their *first learning tool—a pencil inscribed with an inspirational quote*, symbolizing the beginning of their formal journey into the vast world of knowledge and lifelong learning.
Among the attending parents were *Mr. Simrandeep Singh Sohi, Civil Judge cum Judicial Magistrate, and Mrs. Navkiran Kaur, State Tax Officer*, who graced the ceremony with their presence.
Principal *Mrs. J.K. Sidhu* warmly welcomed all parents, assuring them that DAV Public School would soon become a *second home* for their children. She emphasized the pivotal role of *parental involvement* in a child’s educational journey, encouraging parents to actively participate in their children's academic, social, and emotional growth. She highlighted DAV’s rich legacy of *academic excellence, value-based education, and holistic development*, which has shaped countless students over the years.
The Principal emphasized the school’s *holistic approach to education, which extends beyond academics to instill moral and cultural values. A key aspect of this philosophy is the **Daily Havan, fostering spiritual well-being and ethical grounding among students. She stressed the importance of **foundational learning, ensuring that children grow happily and confidently through **experiential learning rather than excessive competition. The school focuses on conceptual understanding, self-learning, and minimizing dependence on coaching centers, thereby fostering **independent thinking and problem-solving skills*. The emphasis remains on preparing children for life rather than just examinations.
Furthermore, she underlined the significance of *parental involvement* in a child's development. Through *regular Parent Orientation Programs, the school aims to guide parents in effectively supporting their children’s educational journey. She encouraged parents to spend quality time with their children, not merely offering advice but leading by example through values like **commitment, hard work, and honesty. By fostering such an environment, the school aspires to shape well-rounded individuals who approach life’s challenges with **confidence, integrity, and resilience*.
