Health Talk on Childhood Obesity

In order to create awareness about Childhood Obesity and Lifestyle diseases, DAV Public School BRS Nagar Ludhiana organised a Health Talk for the students and parents. The resource person Dr. Jaspreet Singh from Fortis Hospital, Ludhiana shared valuable information regarding Body Mass Index which provides a guideline of weight in relation to height. He told them that childhood obesity can lead to diabetes, heart disease, poor self esteem and even depression. Convenience food items such as frozen food, salty snacks etc. can contribute to unhealthy weight gain.
Not enough physical activities is also a reason of childhood obesity. Children were enlightened to improve the eating and exercise habits so that childhood obesity can be treated and prevented. It was an interactive session where the queries of the parents were answered satisfactorily.
Principal of the school Mrs. J. K. Sidhu thanked the resource person for such an informative session and guided the parents and the children to adopt a healthy lifestyle.
