DAV BRS NAGAR  wore a  festive look  today as all DAVians  joined hands   to wipe away the darkness of ignorance and replace it with the light of hope and knowledge.  While celebrating the festival, Principal J.K. Sidhu  led the way to all by spreading the message of  clean, safe and green Diwali with special focus on expressing gratitude to those who helped one and all wade through the COVID pandemic and empathy for  the needy.

The school came up with the unique initiative of expressing sincere gratitude through e-cards with heart felt messages to our worthy Prime Minister Shri Narender Modi, members of Health Ministry and the scientists who worked relentlessly to develop the vaccine to save humanity from COVID. The students also acknowledged the services of the Civil Surgeon, the District administration and the police personnel during the COVID crisis by sending greetings on the occasion. The gratitude was reflected in more than one thousand letters and equal number of E-Cards especially prepared for the occasion by the students.

An exhibition ‘KALA SANGAM’ was also put up displaying the creativity of all the students under one roof. A variety of art works in vibrant hues compelled the onlookers to marvel at the talent of the students. Captivating paintings in oil and water colours, collages and posters on Sustainable Development Goals ,glass paintings ,decorative earthen lamps and candles and many other handicraft items like wall hangings, bags table mats and cushion covers were on display. ‘Ram Darbar’ was another attraction of the exhibition  where students dressed as mythical characters from Ramayana displayed their oratorial and theatrical skills.

The students also promised to be responsible stewards of mother earth  by  taking the ’GREEN PLEDGE’, and vowed to control pollution in all possible ways. The bulletin boards and the corridors were also tastefully decorated by the students conveying the message of brotherhood and GREEN DIWALI.. It was a visual treat to watch aesthetically made designs in the Rangoli competition by the students of classes VII & VIII.

Principal J. K. Sidhu lauded the efforts put in by the students under the able guidance of their teachers. She encouraged the students to avail every opportunity that comes their way to exhibit their talent .While wishing each one a very happy, safe and prosperous Diwali ,she stressed on following  the three R’S - Reduce, Reuse and Recycle for optimum utilisation of resources and for conserving our mother earth.
