Choosing a career that suits one’s abilities is a daunting task for XII students these days as plenty of options are available at hand but children do not have sufficient knowledge about the same. Keeping this in mind school today organised a One Day Seminar on Career Counselling and Guidance in collaboration with DAV University, Jalandhar.

The resource persons for the seminar were esteemed faculty members from DAV University, Jalandhar and the seminar was attended by around 500 students of DAV BRS Nagar, DAV School Pakhowal Road, Tagore Public School and Malwa Khalsa Sr.Sec. School. At the onset Dr.Nakul Kundra struck a rapport with the students by sharing their problems and confusion in choosing careers from myriad of options available. He coaxed the students to first bring about a change in their mindsets and accept this world as a beautiful place to live in. He listed 3 main ingredients for success naming- work, focus and being a good human being.

Thereafter Dr.M.P.Garg stressed on the need to choose a stream well in advance and work for bagging a seat, in elite college or institute. For this works as a stepping stone towards their dream career. He shared about different engineering fields and placement of different engineering colleges. Apart from those he also enlightened the students about opportunities available in case they do not get a seat in engineering or Medical College. Dr.Ashutosh Gupta talked about multitasking which is the need of the industry. There is a need to explore different avenues to land into the most lucrative job.

Towards the end the students queries regarding admission processes, eligibility criterion and degrees required for making it to elite services were satisfactorily answered by resource persons.

Principal Mrs.J.K.Sidhu thanked the team of experts for enlightening the students on their Career prospects and clarifying their doubts.
