‘Innovative Experimental Demonstration’ Mesmerises DAVians

‘Innovative Experimental Demonstration’- a one day workshop under the aegis of Regional Council - 2 (Punjab and J&K), a unit of Indian Association of Physics Teachers, Kanpur was conducted in the school on 26-04-2016. 
Shiksha Ratan Sardar Jaswinder Singh, a State and National Awardee, who has conducted 519 mobile exhibitions in 8 states of India and has bagged many awards for popularizing science and mathematics among the students and teachers, was the resource person of the day. Also present on the occasion were Sh. Deep Inder Singh, Sh. Sukhdev Salempuria(Both Lecturers in Jagraon), Sh. Baldev Singh Sidhu(Retired Professor and HOD Govt. Science College, Jagraon) and Prof. Deepak Chopra(SCD Government College Ludhiana). The Students of class VIII TO X attended the workshop In a very interesting and interactive manner, he took up various concepts of science like air pressure, Pascal’s law, solar lamp, rain alarm, fire alarm , water tank alarm , newton color disc and explained them in a very convincing manner. 
Sardar Jaswinder Singh termed mathematics as ‘mother of all sciences’ and taught them very simple techniques of memorizing mathematical tables. He showed them experiments related to mathematical numbers so that the students can understand these terms without any hitch. The students also put forth their queries to which he gave very convincing replies. He took a promise from the students to conduct these experiments at home and show to the under privileged children. The principal of the school, Mrs. J.K. Sidhu, who herself has been a Physics teacher, thanked the resource person and appreciated his art of simplifying various scientific and mathematical terms. She further emphasized that whether a student takes a science subject in senior classes or not, it is imperative that he should stay connected with science as everything around us revolves around science. She stressed upon the need of conducting such workshops in the schools so that we can reap a rich harvest of great scientists and mathematicians in the times to come.
