English Language Day Celebration

English Language Day was celebrated with gusto at school. The day was dedicated to the Father of English language- William Shakespeare, with the aim of developing love for English language and literature. Mrs. Geetanjali Mehra, a nature enthusiast and wife of Mr. Rohit Mehra (IRS) and also an avid nature lover, was the chief guest of the day.
The event commenced with a formal welcome to the revered chief guest by Madam Principal Mrs. J .K. Sidhu. Thereafter she apprised the audience with the rich history of DAV BRS Nagar which has successfully completed glorious 39 academic years and also spoke about the importance of English Language in today’s world. The program comprised of different activities like group song -'I have a Dream’, an impressive speech on the theme- ' All the World's a Stage’ followed by a beautiful dance performance. Students dressed as Miranda, Cindrella, Rapunzel and the famous Shakespearean clown left the audience wonder struck with the speeches of their characters. The main attraction of the event was the Shakespearean play- ‘The Merchant of Venice’. Flawless dialogue delivery of the students of the play transported the audience to the Shakespearean era. Last but not the least, a scintillating dance performance by the girls mesmerized everyone.
The chief guest Mrs. Geetanjali Mehra appreciated the efforts of the students for bringing the Shakespearean Era alive on to the stage. She also told the students to avail all the opportunities provided by the school for their holistic development.
Principal Mrs. J.K. Sidhu thanked the chief guest, Mrs. Geetanjali Mehra for presiding over the event and to boost the morale of all the students. She applauded the efforts put in by the students and their mentors for the success of the event. She urged the students to acquire proficiency in English language – a window to the world.
