Independence Day was celebrated with patriotic fervor and enthusiasm in DAV BRS Nagar today. The entire campus was decked up in the colors of the national flag and reverberated with the echoes of ‘Vande Matram’ and Bharat mata ki jai. A colourful cultural program was also organised.
The celebrations began with an impressive March Past by the students followed by flag hoisting and singing of national anthem. Thereafter students presented speeches and recited poems highlighting the supreme sacrifices made by the freedom fighters. Apart from this 26 girl cadets who had won laurels in various events in a C.A.T.C. - 88 NCC camp recently attended by them at Malout were also honoured by the Principal. The yoga club students had also put up a show of yogasans that left everyone speechless. 
Principal Mrs. J.K. Sidhu in her address while highlighting the role of freedom fighters exhorted the students to be ever ready for safeguarding the nation not only from enemies but also from vices so as to enjoy living in a nation free in all respects. While talking about school project of ‘Growing up with Trees’, she encouraged the students to take good care of the trees for increasing the green cover and creating healthy environment.
