A leader plays an important role in giving direction to the institute and steer it to greater heights. In schools, Principals, as leaders play the most important role in student’s academic success and shaping their personalities. Their position in today’s scenario encompasses a perfect combination of a par excellence leader, a manager and a shaper of school vision.

In an effort to meet these heightened expectations now placed on them, Crossbanding (Season-2)(Session-II) was organised at DAV Public School, BRS Nagar, Ludhiana where 22 principals from Central and State board schools from Punjab participated. Simi Srivastava, Master Storyteller from Kathashala and Subir Shukla (ex-Chief Quality Advisor, MHRD, Government of India) from Ignus were the keynote speakers who apprised the delegates with changes in pedagogy. The forenoon session began with deliberations on Importance of storytelling in the lives of the youngsters and the art of narrating the same. Simi engaged the participants in various activities related to the art of storytelling which is a powerful medium of transaction of knowledge.

The post lunch session was conducted by Subir Shukla who discussed the techniques and means of preparing children for an uncertain future. This know how holds a greater significance in today’s scenario where inspite of opportunities at hand the youngsters find themselves at crossroads and are thus waylaid. Stressing on the significance of making children realize their potential at an early age Subir Shukla highlighted that this would go a long way in checking the problem of unemployment and youth going astray consequently leading to peace in the society.

Participating principals felt that the sessions opened numerous possibilities for them to help the students under their care. Host Principal J.K. Sidhu while thanking the resource persons assured that the tips given by them would help in changing the scenarios in their respective institutions.
