‘Ras-Kalash’ (Annual Day Celebration) organised by school was a remarkable portrayal of nine ‘Rasas’ which are the essence of human emotions and moods affecting body and mind. The children enthralled a packed audience with their scintillating performances in the school auditorium. Sh. H.R.Gandhar, advisor to D.A.V C.M.C, New Delhi & D.A.V University, Jalandhar graced the function as Chief Guest. Sh. Kumar Gaurav Dhawan-IRS, Deputy Commissioner , Central  Excise and Service Tax, Ludhiana was the Guest of Honour. Dr. S.S Johl (Vice Chairman of LMC), Mrs. P.P.Sharma (Regional Director), Dr.B.B.Sharma (Manager) and others LMC members were the special invitees to the programme. The programme started with DAV Anthem followed by traditional lamp lighting ceremony and a formal welcome to the guests. Mrs. J.K.Sidhu, the Principal of the school read out Annual Report highlighting various distinctions and achievements of the students in various fields. The Cultural Extravaganza ‘Ras Kalash’ began with ‘Shingar Ras’ and concluded with ‘Shanta Ras’. Children depicted ‘Vatsalya (love and affection) Ras’  in ‘Ore Chiriya’ where a father’s love for the daughter was highlighted. ‘Veer (courage ) Ras’ was performed in Hindi play ‘Charu Mitra’ which highlighted Charu Mitra’s loyalty and sincerity   towards King Ashoka and her motherland. Shiva’s ‘Tandav’ reflected ‘Raudra (anger) Ras’ whereas ‘Bhayanak (terror) Ras’ depicted atrocities towards the girl child. The latest technological developments in the field of science were highlighted very effectively in ‘Adbuta (surprise) Ras’. Shakespearean tragedy ‘Othello’ depicting ‘Karun (compassion) Ras’ was a class apart. The immaculate delivery of dialogues, appropriate costumes, backdrops and background music carried the audience literally to the Shakespearean times. The main attraction of the day was the exhibition put up by the students where they displayed their exhibits which they had learnt and prepared during the session. The Chief Guest gave away prizes to more than 350 students who excelled in academics, sports and cultural activities. In his speech, he congratulated the prize-winners and the parents. He exhorted the students to further work hard and bring laurels for their school. In his message, the Guest of Honour Sh. Kumar Gaurav Dhawan appreciated the endeavour on the part of the students and teachers and said that such programmes go a long way to instill confidence and to give exposure to the students. The grand finale of the day was foot tapping ‘ Bhangra’ which lent a vibrant and colourful touch to the function. The fast tempo beats of the dhol entwined with the singing of traditional folk songs captured the audience. Vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. B.B. Sharma (Manager). The function concluded with National Anthem.
