DAV Public School BRS Nagar, Ludhiana received ISA award from British Council in 2015 and school Principal along with a team of students was invited to London in 2016 as a part of exchange programme. To continue the efforts in the same direction, a team from St. Mary’s CEP Academy, Folkestone, UK comprising of Mr. Trevor North (Head Teacher), Mrs. Colette Cotton (International Co-ordinator) and Miss Holly Kleinman (Teacher) paid a visit to the school from 16^th January to 18^th January. This trip is funded by British Council London under ‘Connecting Classrooms’ Professional Grant. The purpose of this visit was to enhance the understanding of cultures and traditions of both the countries and to develop international curriculum to add a global dimension to the education to the young learners.

After receiving a grand yet traditional welcome in the school, the team had a brief yet engaging interactive session with the Principal Mrs. J.K. Sidhu. Wearing a smile and sporting self-confidence, the student of class V had interaction with the team members on fireless cooking and table manners. It was a delight to see Mr. Trevor North sharing words of wisdom with the young learners and giving them techniques for handling otherwise difficult subject like Maths. Mrs. Cotton had an interactive session with the students of Eco club and gave valuable tips on ‘Zero Waste Management’. She also discussed the goals of ‘Sustainable Development’ with the students. Mrs. Cotton is actively working on this project in many other schools of different countries.

The team also visited various classes in order to have a feel of the teaching learning process of the school. School also witnessed an afternoon of celebrating ‘Lohri’ where the guests participated with full gusto. ‘Skype Session’ was also organised in the school to provide the visitors a platform for sharing their experiences with the governor and students of their school. The guests were all praise for the spoken English and confidence of the children. Principal Mrs. J.K. Sidhu hoped that the trip would open new vistas for closer ties between the two countries and for providing learning platform for all the stake holders.
