Right type of education can make the human beings good citizens in real sense of the word and as a result, a better society can be built. So, it is imperative that all schools across the country provide holistic learning opportunity to their learners. Responding to this need a Capacity Building Programme for classes VI-XII in Science and Mathematics was organized in the school, under the aegis of DAV Centre of Academic Excellence, Regional Training Centre, Ludhiana Zone today.
Around 45 teachers from various DAV institutions attended the workshop. The resource persons for the programme were Mrs. Madhu Khanna from DAV Public School, Patiala, Mr. Swaranpreet Singh, Mr. Ashish Kapoor, Mrs. Vimmy Goyal, Mrs. Tajinder Kaur, Mrs. Pavittar Lata and Mrs. Malwinder Kaur- all from DAV Public School, BRS Nagar, Ludhiana.
They urged the teachers to inculcate insatiable appetite for knowledge for Science and Mathematics among the students. They touched all the areas like framing the question paper and innovative ways of imposing study habits among students. Need-based topics were also taken up in the workshop like conduction of Neurons, Animal & Plant Evolution, Semi-Conductor devices and Optical Bench etc. In a very interesting manner, the resource persons discussed the criteria for framing good MCQs and gave tips on how to improve the result of low graders. It was an inter-active workshop where the teachers participated enthusiastically and sought answers to their queries.
The Principal of the school Mrs. J.K. Sidhu, thanked the resource persons and the delegates and said that this workshop would help the teachers to understand the learner in a better way in today's techno-savvy world. She said that organizing such workshops is the need of the hour as it helps the teacher to evolve with the changing time.
