Human life is the most precious gift given by God. Unfortunately at times this gift of God suffers due to some mishap or disease. Life and death are purely in the hands of God but thanks to technology organ donation lends extension of life to the dead. Millions of people are perishing in hospitals in want of one or the other organ and superstitions are hampering the campaign for organ donation.
Taking a step towards alleviating the misery of diseased and the suffering Dr. Baldev Singh Aulakh, MD, MS, MCH. HOD Urology and Transplantation DMC with his team addressed the students of classes XI and XII to create awareness about Organ Donation and help in driving away the myths associated with this noble cause.
Dr. Aulakh in his address apprised the students about the likely donors and some do’s and don’t that must be adhered to by relatives of donors. He said that one brain dead person serves 8 individuals by giving them a fresh lease of life. He exhorted the students to be the messengers of GLODAS (Gift of Life Organ Donation Awareness Society) and carry the word to their families to make it a mass movement to extend helping hand to the needy.
The students of the school showed their awareness on the subject by participating in Poster Making Contest on the theme Organ Donation. The whole venue was beautifully decorated with the messages regarding Organ Donation.
Principal Mrs. J.K. Sidhu in her address thanked Dr. Baldev Singh Aulakh and his team for taking out some valuable time from their hectic schedule to make the youth of today- the missionaries of tomorrow for this noble cause. She also expressed her gratitude for Mrs. Manjit Kaur Sodhia for providing this opportunity to the school to be a partner in the cause of helping humanity.
